Issued by the National Bureau of Statistics of the People's Republic of China, this standard was officially promulgated on June 30, 2017, and implemented on October 1 of the same year, replacing the previous version GB/T 4754—2011. This standard covers all sectors of the national economy in mainland China, adopting a four-level hierarchical structure of categories, major categories, intermediate categories, and minor categories. It is designed with reference to the United Nations ISIC Rev.4 international framework, maintaining structural correspondence with international standards. It is applicable to various government and commercial scenarios, including business registration, statistical surveys, national economic accounting (GDP accounting), and industry policy formulation. It serves as the unified industry classification basis for statistical, tax, industrial and commercial, customs, and securities regulatory departments in mainland China.
