Included in this industry are establishments that perform these processes on other materials, such as plastics, in addition to metals.

Both fabricating and coating and engraving products--are classified in the Manufacturing sector according to the product made; Engraving, chasing, or etching jewelry, metal personal goods, or precious metal products (except precious plated flatware and other plated ware)--are classified in Industry 339910, Jewelry and Silverware Manufacturing; and Engraving, chasing, or etching printing plates--are classified in Industry 323120, Support Activities for Printing.
