This Sub-class includes the manufacture of basic chemicals except fertilisers and nitrogen. Units in this Sub-class are primarily engaged in the manufacture of: •basic organic chemicals like: - acyclic hydrocarbons - cyclic hydrocarbons, - saturated and/or unsaturated - acyclic and/or cyclic alcohols - mono- and/or polycarboxylic acids, including acetic acid - other oxygen-function compounds, including aldehydes, ketones, quinones and/or dual or poly oxygen function compounds - synthetic glycerol - nitrogen-function organic compounds, including amines - fermentation of sugarcane, corn or similar to produce alcohol and esters - other organic compounds, including wood distillation products (e.g. charcoal) •inorganic acids except nitric acid and basic industrial acids •alkalis, lyes and other inorganic bases except basic industrial alkalis
